EQUIP is a four-week seminar series run each year as part of our vision to equip God's people at Highfields. They will take place in-person on Sundays January 21st, January 28th, February 4th, February 11th, and will include some time altogether as a church as well as time in your chosen seminar series.

Seminars will take place place from 5:00pm to 6:15pm (with full kids and youth tracks) and followed by refreshments at 6:15pm and a time of worship all together in the chapel from 6:30pm-7:00pm.

This year's Equip will consist of the following seminar tracks

  • Effective Evangelism (Jon Reeves):
Sharing Jesus with a World that Couldn't Care Less.
Why doesn't God just take us to heaven as soon as we become Christians? Because He wants us to be involved in His unstoppable mission to reach people for Christ. This seminar series will be looking at the essentials of mission, our 21st Century context, and skills to grow in being better witnesses for Christ.
  • The World on Your Doorstep (David Bhakiaraj, Lam & Livia, Leanne):
Building Bridges for the Gospel Cross-Culturally.
We are blessed to have people from all over the world living in Cardiff - International Students, Asylum Seekers and others, many of whom come from countries where they may never have heard the gospel or even met a Christian before. How can we build relationships with people from a culture that may be different from our own? How can we show love and respect to our international neighbours? Should we share the Christian gospel with people from other religious backgrounds? Come along to this Equip Track to be inspired, encouraged and equipped to share a passion for Jesus with the World on our doorstep.
  • Heroes and Heretics (Rowland Hughes & Michael Teutsch):
    Reformation Church History.
In 1517, a German monk nailed a poster to the door of a church, disagreeing with key doctrines taught by the Roman Catholic Church in that day. This moment set in motion a movement that changed the entire trajectory of church history. But do the Reformers still have something to teach us today? In these easily accessible sessions we'll be giving an overall introduction to the reformation as well as looking at the lives and teachings of Luther, Zwingli, Calvin... and possibly a few others.
  • You're Only Human (Ali B & Hayley Marchant):
Learning to Embrace our Creaturely Limitations.
These seminars will be a deep dive into what it means to be human. We'll explore some of the good limits that our creator has given us, as His creatures. Limits that, if embraced rather than resisted, can lead us to greater dependence on God and one another. We'll be touching on topics such as rest and time; relationships and technology; gratitude and lament, as well as spending some time exploring the importance of the Genesis accounts for understanding our identity as people made in God's image.
  • Marriage MOT (Aled & Susie W):
How the Gospel of Grace Can Enrich Your Marriage.
This is an opportunity for married and engaged couples to come together and invest in their marriages across the 4 sessions. We will look at different Bible passages to see how the gospel shapes our hearts which will then positively impact our relationships. Topics covered over the sessions will include heart and worship, love versus manipulation, honesty and communication & grace and forgiveness. Broader discussion will be done in groups but specific applications will only be done as couples.

Youth track

  • There be dragons:
How our story fits with God's big story of the warrior who slays the serpent.

Kids track

  • Who am I?
Finding out what God says in the Bible.
