When Jesus Comes

Sunday mornings* at Highfields Christmas 2013

Believing and Belonging"Life is made up of promises from the profound promises of marriage to the more prosaic "I promise I'll get the Christmas decorations down from the attic this week!"

Of course being human we don't always deliver on our commitments. One year a friend, when aged 6, asked his parents for a Scalectrix set for Christmas but ended up with a much cheaper alternative. He was devastated. So much so that one Christmas, many years later, then aged 34, he bought himself the deluxe Scalectrix version and pretended it was for his daughters!

The good news is that God always delivers on His promises and His greatest promise was the coming of Jesus into the world.

Christmas at my House

Christmas at my HouseOn Sunday evenings this Advent season we look forward to Christmas.

Happily for many of us Christmas is a marvellous time to celebrate God's indescribable gift of life. But to make that possible it was quite a different story for Mary and Joseph and the arrival of their baby son – not in the welcoming warmth of a family home but in the animal shed of a first century inn in Bethlehem.
