There's something for everyone on the Highfields bookstall – theology, biographies, Christian novels, children's books & CD's and lots more!

Every month we have profiled a book on the Highfields website so there are 12 reviews you can find here to help you choose. But, just in case you need some more help, here are our top 3 suggestions for Christmas:

The Hard Corps

The Hard Corps, written by our very own Dai Hankey - 'The Hard Corps' is a real man's book about real men!  Dai writes about the men who fought alongside King David, and reflects on what it means to be a man of God today.  It pulls no punches and takes you to Jesus.  And I'm sure women can read it too!

Peter Baker says about this book, 'If you want to 'fess up, man up, step up and sign up, this may well be just the job!  The King needs warriors - wimps need not apply.'

Christmas Uncut

Christmas Uncut, by Carl Laferton - Laferton seems to have been in an awful lot of Nativity plays as a child.  Or a lot of awful Nativity plays, depending on your point of view.  Using his memories of nativity plays, he unpacks scandal,  controversy, massacres, mystery and Christmas. This is a book about the real Christmas; the one that has been lost by being turned into a children's nativity play. The one that's been buried under made-up details about donkeys and innkeepers and kings. And it is a book about why what really happened at Christmas really matters today - about how these amazing events can transform people's lives and futures.

Call to Spiritual Reformation

A Call to Spiritual Reformation, by Don Carson - Carson investigates the Epistles to see what Paul taught us about prayer by studying the prayers that Paul prayed.  It's easy to read Paul's prayers far too quickly, and miss their depth and their application to us today.

This is well worth a read, and it will change the way you pray.
