The God Who Speaks

A bible teaching series on Advent 2012

The God Who Speaks"Communication is key". We hear it all the time and it's true for relationships, for marriage, for family life, and the wider world. Effective communication is hard, it can be uncomfortable, it can be costly, but it's always worth it.

The amazing truth at the heart of the Christian faith is that God is into costly communication. He has spoken to us not only through the wonders of his creation but in the wonder of incarnation. Jesus, God's Word made flesh, knew just how uncomfortable communicating God's love and grace to a fallen world would be.

And yet Jesus went through with it. He went all the way from the comfort of heaven to the smelling stable and the cruel cross. And the writer of the letter to the Hebrews tells us he did so because of "the joy set before him". In our Advent series through December we'll be exploring again the wonder of the God who speaks to us, not from a safe distance, but through the vulnerability of incarnation.
