Jesus is Always Better
Studies in Hebrews
We're starting the New Year with a series in Hebrews that will remind us that Jesus is always better. Whatever our circumstances, whatever our challenges and doubts, whatever our disappointments or failures, Jesus is always better. We are not sure who the author is but through his inspired writing we are cheered on as we run the race of faith.
We are warned of the dangers of dropping out - the technical term is "apostasy" - not so much because of persecution from outsiders but more because of a weariness with the demands of the Christian life and a growing indifference to wonder of our calling.
What better way then, to restore lost fervour and strengthen feeble faith than to direct our attention continually to Jesus – the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus alone is our inspiration – the pre-existent, once incarnate, now exalted prophet, priest and king who "because he himself suffered when tempted.....is able to help those who are being tempted." Start the new year fixing your eyes on Jesus as together we are encouraged by this message of his unrivalled superiority.
