Rounded Rectangle: I don’t know about you but inviting a friend to
Church or to a Christian event can sometimes
fill me with dread, even though I really want
them to come along. I think it’s the fear of
rejection or the fear of causing a weird feeling
between your friendship that stops me being as
bold as I want to be. I find myself starting to
make up excuses before I’ve even invited them
like ‘I’m not sure this will be a good event to in-
vite them to’ or ‘I’ll check this event out first and if it’s good then I’ll invite them to the next one’. Inevitably, I always leave the event disappointed that I hadn’t been bold enough to invite them. So, to help you avoid similar disappointment here are a few steps that have helped me in the past:

Step 1: Remember it’s Good News
First of all we need to remember that Jesus is good news. Scrap that, Jesus is great news that we should want to talk about. We forget that the gospel is great news because we forget about what an extraordinary thing it is to know total forgiveness from all our shame and guilt. It’s wonderfully liberating news. We are saved FROM Hell THROUGH the Cross TO Heaven. The question then is why wouldn’t we want to tell our mates?

Step 2: Remember Paul’s Example
Paul in Romans 1:14 says “I am a debtor, (I am bound to preach) to the Greeks, non Greeks, both to the wise and to the foolish, basically to everyone. What Paul is saying here is that the good news of Jesus is a debt to man. What does Paul mean? Well, there are two ways of getting into debt, I’m sure you are aware. One way is to borrow money from someone and the second way is to be given money by someone to pass on to someone else.
