Rounded Rectangle: Marriage Matters
Rounded Rectangle: The grass is always greener………

We are all tempted from time to time to think the grass is always greener ……on the other side of the fence! If only I had a different job, if only I lived in a nicer neighbourhood, and sometimes, if only I’d married a different partner……life would be so much better now!
But this type of thinking is so destructive in married relationships. Relate, the UK marriage counselling agency, blames increased dissatisfaction and even divorce in marriage on the use of social network sites like Facebook and Friends Reunited. They encourage people to look backwards, to reimagine their past choices and hook up again with relationships that are not conducive to a healthy marriage. Christian marriage is a covenant based on a life-long commitment to love each other. And biblical love is essentially a choice not a feeling – a choice to be faithful no matter what. Like God himself who is “ the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,  maintaining love to thousands” (Exodus 36:4).
The truth is the grass is always greener……where you water it! If you want a lovely lawn you’ve got to invest in it. You have to encourage the growth of the grass and discourage the growth of unwanted intruders. So the question is: are you watering your lawn!? Are you investing in your marriage?
