Ministry Apprentice Scheme

Highfields Church is one of the largest churches in Wales uniquely situated in the heart of Cardiff serving a diverse community. We are passionate about reaching people with the good news about Jesus, making and maturing disciples and investing in the next generation of leaders.

Our Ministry Apprenticeship scheme is an 11 month training programme for those wanting to either explore a calling into full-time Christian ministry or to serve in the local church to discover and develop their gifts. The programme is designed to give you training in one specialised area of interest, whilst offering you the chance to experience the breadth of work in a busy city church.

This year we are looking for a full-time Children’s Ministry Apprentice and a part-time (2 days) Student Ministry Apprentice.

Full-time Children’s Ministry Apprentice

  • Your time would be divided between working in the children’s ministry, serving generally in the church, and studying on our Network Ministry Training course.
  • As part of your formal training you will meet with one of the pastoral team on a weekly basis to discuss important Christian topics in a tutorial style setting.
  • You will also have the opportunity to go on an overseas mission trip to experience cross cultural mission.

Part-time Student Ministry Apprentice

  • Your time would be focussed on the student ministry. Assisting in the delivery of weekly ministry activities, as well as the pastoral care for volunteers and participants within the student ministry
  • As part of your formal training you will meet with one of the pastoral team on a weekly basis to discuss important Christian topics in a tutorial style setting.
  • You will also have the opportunity to go on an overseas mission trip to experience cross cultural mission.

You will need to be a committed Christian, with good communication and inter-personal skills and a heart for serving the church. You must have good time management and organisational skills as well as enjoy working as part of a team.
